This weekend in downtown Kingsport: Love is in the air, along with axes

KINGSPORT — If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, head downtown for Valentine’s Day events, yoga and more. Here are suggestions for your weekend from the Downtown Kingsport Association.

Thursday

• Valentine Card Makerspace

What: The Kingsport Public Library invites you to stop by during its open makerspace time to make a card for your Valentine. The event is free and open to the public.

Where: Kingsport Public Library, 400 Broad St.

When: 3-5 p.m.

• Model City Tap House Music Bingo

What: Music bingo is the latest craze in cities throughout the country. It’s played like traditional Bingo, except it uses song clips rather than letters and numbers. Prizes will be awarded to winners.

Where: Model City Tap House, 151 E. Main St., Suite 1

When: 7 p.m.

• High Voltage and King’s Sport Axe House Galentine’s Day Celebration

What: A night full of ladies celebrating ladies. High Voltage will have ciders, crafts and domestics available, and Me & K’s will be serving street tacos.

If you want to axe your ex, bring a picture of your ex to help “bury the hatchet.”

Friday

• High Voltage and King’s Sport Axe House Valentine’s Day Date Night

What: Friday night only, King’s Sport Axe House will have a date night package deal including one hour of axe throwing for two players, one large pizza from Opie’s Pizza Wagon and two ciders or beers from High Voltage Kingsport.

When: Beginning at 5 p.m.

• Lamplight Theatre: Valentine’s Day Dinner Theater

What: An evening of dinner followed by a performance of “Le Cadre: An Enchanting Parable.” Patrons can choose to eat after the matinee or before the evening shows.

• Taylored Venue and Events: Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance

What: Dinner and dancing at Taylored Venue and Events. Single ticket is $25, couples $50.

When: 6 p.m.

• Vida Hot Yoga: Partner Yoga

What: Join Vida Hot Yoga for a fun, interactive Valentine’s celebration through partner yoga. Bring your best friend, sibling, boss, spouse, partner or anyone else who wants to share a good time, drink some champagne or sparkling juice, and have a deep stretch.

When: 6 p.m.

Note: VIDA member $25 per couple, non-member $35 per couple.

• Hometown Cottage 1771: Sweetheart Dinner and Candle Pour

What: Hometown Cottage 1771 is hosting a Valentine Dinner and Pour Party. Fun begins with an amazing, catered homemade pasta bar followed by pouring your very own sweetheart candles complete with custom labels. Come join in at the Whisky Wick Candle Bar at Hometown Cottage 1771. Treat a special someone to an evening of fun.

Saturday

• Munch on Market: Valentine’s Frozen Themed Waffle Bar

What: Anna and Elsa will be back at Munch on Market for a Valentine’s Waffle Bar. Come hang out with Elsa, Anna, and Olaf and build your own waffle.

Where: 113 W. Market St.

When: 9 a.m.

Note: The cost is $12 for anyone planning to sit and eat. Each ticket includes one buttermilk waffle boat filled full of your favorite toppings, a drink, and visits with Anna and Elsa.

• Carriage House: Beginner’s Sock Class

What: This beginner level class is suitable for those who are comfortable with knitting and purling. You will be creating a slipper sock set with worsted weight yarn on #5 DPNs. After you complete this class, you should be ready to sign up for a regular sock class, which will be offered in March.

• High Voltage and King’s Sport Axe House Palentine’s Day Celebration

What: Join King’s Sport Axe House for its final day of the Weekend of Love. It will be celebrating the love of friendship with a PALentine’s Celebration. Backdraft Barbecue will be serving up some BBQ starting at 3 p.m. and smoking ribs on-site. High Voltage Kingsport will be serving ciders, craft, and domestic beers.
