The Kingsport Farmers Market is beginning its “Evening at the Market” series this Thursday. For the first time, the market will be open during evening hours, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing for three hours until 8:30 p.m.
You’ll be able to shop from more than 40 vendors who are expected to be on hand at the farmers market (308 Clinchfield St.), visit food vendors for some dinner, and then grab a craft beer before a live bluegrass concert by the band Lonesome River begins at 6 p.m.
This “Evening at the Market” series takes place the second Thursday of each month, from June through September, and is in partnership with Visit Kingsport and the Downtown Kingsport Association.
“We are so excited to bring this new experience to downtown Kingsport,” said Kristie Leonard, the city’s Community Services Program Administrator and market manager. “Everyone in the region is welcome to come enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and visit with your neighbors.”
In addition to the farmers market and concert, the Kingsport Carousel and playground will be open for all, and following the concert, Visit Kingsport will show the live, tie-breaking battle for the Best Long Island Iced Tea. Kingsport’s local team will take on New York in National Harbor, Maryland.
In case you can’t make it down Thursday evening, here’s the concert schedule for the remainder of the series: Hunter Patterson Band on July 11; Matlock & Company on Aug. 8 and the ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band on Sept. 12.
The Kingsport Farmers Market is near Food City in downtown Kingsport at the corner of Clinchfield and Center. The market is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
