City school system students headed back to Wednesday morning after being out because of illness-driven absentees of students and adults and a parent-teacher conference day Friday.
Kingsport City Schools Assistant Superintendent of Administration Andy True said the closure was spurred by influenza and other illnesses among children and adults of the school system of more than 7,000.
Kingsport City Schools had student attendance of 92.1% on Tuesday, while Sullivan County was at 91%, officials of the two systems said.
